Smarter Scene Automation with eWeLink App 5.14
The latest eWeLink App 5.14 update introduces two powerful enhancements to scene functionality, making automation setup faster and more flexible than ever.
The eWeLink App just got even smarter and more user-friendly with version 5.15. This update introduces a range of thoughtful improvements that make it easier to manage your smart home—especially for power users with many devices, rooms, and automation setups. Let’s dive into the four key new features and what they mean for your daily smart home experience.
Managing a growing list of scenes just got easier. With V5.15, you can now assign custom labels to scenes to group and filter them by function or use case.
How it works:
When editing a scene, you’ll now see the option to add one or more labels under Scene > Edit Scene > Labels & Homes. These labels are tied to your account and can be used across all your Homes. For example, label your lighting scenes as “Ambience”, your motion-triggered alerts as “Security”, or your cooling-related Scenes as “Comfort”.
On the scene homepage, all manual and automation scenes are now shown together in a single, scrollable list. If labels have been added, a label tab bar appears at the top, allowing you to:
The label tab bar is sticky while scrolling, and you can tap a drop-down to view, rename, reorder, or delete your labels. Each account can create up to 20 labels. Once you reach this limit, the “Create a Label” button will no longer appear until you delete or modify existing ones.
Example use case:
You might label your scenes as “Morning Routine”, “Work-from-Home”, and “Vacation Prep”. When you’re heading out for a trip, just tap the Vacation Prep label to quickly find and enable the related scenes without hunting through your full list.
When you have many rooms—or room names that are just a little too long—scrolling through tabs to find the one you want can be frustrating.
In V5.15, we’ve made room navigation much easier by adding a room list pop-up on the homepage.
How it works:
Tap the room switcher on your Home page, and you’ll now see a clean, scrollable list of all rooms in your current Home. No more endless swiping! You can also jump straight to the Manage Rooms page from this list.
Example:
Let’s say your Home includes 12 rooms with names like “Kitchen”, “Living Room – West Wing”, and “Main Hallway 2nd Floor”. Instead of swiping tab by tab, just open the room list and go straight to what you need.
Previously, eWeLink’s Presence Simulation feature didn’t allow you to set a time period that crossed midnight—so scheduling it from, say, 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM simply wouldn’t work.
In V5.15, we’ve fixed that. You can now set an overnight active period for Presence Simulation, helping your smart home look lived-in during the hours when it matters most.
Example:
Going out for the night? Just set Presence Simulation to run from 18:00 to 04:00, and your lights will behave as if someone’s home, even through the night.
With eWeLink App V5.15, you can use virtual devices directly in your home screen widgets on both Android and iOS, giving you one-tap access to key automations without opening the app.
This means you can trigger complex automations or routines with just one tap—no need to open the app.
What Are Virtual Devices?
Introduced in V5.14, virtual devices allow you to create virtual switches and buttons that work just like real devices—only smarter. They’re not tied to any physical device, giving you more flexibility in building automation scenarios. They offer a powerful way to build flexible automation across your smart home. For example, you can:
To create a virtual device, go to eWeLink App > Home > Add Device > More Options > Virtual Device. Learn more in this guide. You can also create virtual switches and virtual buttons via eWeLink Web by going to +Group/Room/Service > Add Virtual Device.
Example:
Create a “Leaving Home” virtual button that turns off your eWeLink lights or appliances and also triggers third-party routines—such as setting your Google Home to Away Mode or enabling motion detection in SmartThings. First, sync the virtual button to the third-party platform. Then, create a routine or scene within that platform using the synced button as a trigger. Finally, add this virtual button to your home screen as a 2×2 eWeLink widget. With just one tap on the widget, you’ll launch a cross-platform automation—no need to open multiple apps.
That’s all for eWeLink V5.15! This update is packed with features to help you keep your smart home more organized, more accessible, and better connected than ever. The new version has been submitted to Google Play and will roll out gradually over the next few days. iOS users—hang tight, the update is expected to arrive by the end of April.
